Making Their Web 2.0 Space an Information Literacy Space

by Marsha Spiegelman and Richard Glass

Abstract

This presentation describes an innovative collaboration that incorporates information literacy as an integral and assessable component in interdisciplinary courses. It utilizes the research librarian as instructor and on-going contributor to the students’ education by extending the traditional classroom and library contact zone via a blog. The blog provides students with an interactive electronic space they understand, are familiar with and already use. In this modality, our collaboration extends library instruction beyond the physical space, allows collaboration with the faculty member in creating discipline-specific research projects and is an on-going, assessable component of the students' education.

These two presenters actually have their wiki at PaperWiki for SUNYLA. You can find the original proposal, a link to the presentation and all the links to their examples.
